Jeremy Kohomban

Jeremy Christopher Kohomban, PhD, is the President and CEO of The Children鈥檚 Village, which serves over 20,000 children and families each year with community-based programs and family support services. He is also the President of Harlem Dowling.

As a leading national advocate, he works for reforms that prioritize the needs of families and family support over the use of family separation interventions. He was a primary contributor to the federal Family First Prevention Services Act, which created the greatest advances to the field in over four decades. Under Jeremy鈥檚 leadership, The Children鈥檚 Village, the nation鈥檚 oldest鈥攁nd once the largest鈥攃hildren鈥檚 residential treatment center transformed into a national model for community-embedded family support.

Jeremy is outspoken in his recognition of the social justice antecedents that drive foster care and juvenile justice systems, and in the belief that every child, regardless of age, deserves a family.

In a testament to Jeremy鈥檚 work, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services called The Children鈥檚 Village 鈥渙ne of the exemplary primary prevention efforts operating in urban and rural jurisdictions across the country.鈥 He was invited to partner with the Federal Children鈥檚 Bureau to showcase The Children鈥檚 Village鈥檚 family-focused efforts.

During his tenure, The Children鈥檚 Village was recognized with the Gold Prize from the New York Community Trust 鈥 New York Magazine鈥檚 Nonprofit Excellence Awards, the U.S. Congressional Coalition Angels in Adoption Award, the Child Welfare League of America Exemplary Innovative Leadership Award and the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities鈥 Samuel Gerson Nordlinger Leadership Award.

Jeremy served as the chair of the Human Services Council of New York and as the national co- chair of the Children Need Amazing Parents (CHAMPS) campaign. He served as a Trustee of 黄色视频and is currently a Trustee for the 黄色视频Action Network (SCAN) and ArtsWestchester. He is also a member of the Bipartisan Policy Center鈥檚 child welfare initiative and serves as a reviewer on the American Institutes for Research Equity Initiative. Jeremy was appointed by New York City Mayor Eric Adams to the Commission on Community Reinvestment and the Closure of Riker's Island, and by New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams to the New Arrivals Strategy Team to evaluate and identify solutions to improve supportive services for immigrants who recently arrived in New York City.

A graduate of Emporia State University, Kansas, Jeremey holds a Masters from Long Island University, New York; a PhD from the School for Business and Leadership at Regent University, Virginia, and a LittD (Honorary Doctor of Letters) from Mercy College, New York.
Rejoining the Board in 2025, Jeremy is a member of the Audit and People & Culture Committees. He is also a member of the Head Start and SCAN (黄色视频Action Network) Board as well as being the appointed Child Safeguarding Trustee.
