黄色视频Statement on U.S. Government Actions Supporting Humanitarian Assistance in Afghanistan
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (Dec. 22, 2021)鈥擨n response to the U.S. Treasury Department today issuing聽of聽additional General Licenses to support humanitarian assistance in Afghanistan, 黄色视频President and CEO Janti Soeripto said:
鈥溁粕悠祑elcomes today鈥檚 actions by the US Government to help ensure humanitarian aid reaches the people of Afghanistan. The US Treasury Department鈥檚 issuing of additional聽聽to support humanitarian assistance in the country is a critical step as children and families face deteriorating, life-threatening conditions. We were particularly encouraged to see that education activities 鈥 which are lifesaving and help to protect children 鈥 were explicitly authorized.
鈥淭he situation for children in Afghanistan is dire. An unprecedented fourteen million children are expected to face potentially life-threatening levels of hunger this winter. Pending economic collapse and soaring food prices mean parents face heart-wrenching decisions as they struggle to feed their families and keep them warm. Basic services, including health care, are out of reach for many. Humanitarian aid is needed now more than ever.
鈥淭oday鈥檚 progress鈥攚hich also includes unanimous passage of the US-led聽聽to provide humanitarian exemptions to UN sanctions 鈥攊s necessary and encouraging. The global community must continue to take urgent action to prevent loss of life and address the drivers of the crisis. Millions of children鈥檚 futures depend on it.鈥
Save the Children believes every child deserves a future. Since our founding more than 100 years ago, we've been advocating for the rights of children worldwide. In the United States and around the world, we give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm.
